ACCESS
Fly from Tana to Sambava, then one hour drive to MBG's office at Anjangoveratra, then 2-8 hour walk to forest (depending on location).
GOAL
The outstanding biological and economic importance of the site is retained by protecting the remaining forest fragments and improving their connectivity by reforestation.
VEGETATION
Low and mid-elevation humid evergreen forest.
BIOLOGICAL IMPORTANCE
1- Diverse flora that includes local endemics.
2- Habitat of critically endangered Eulemur sanfordi and Eulemur coronatus.
3- Forest in transitional bioclimate from subhumid to dry.
SOCIO-ECONOMIC IMPORTANCE
Commercial exploitation of timber, hunting of lemurs and birds, shifting cultivation, watershed for a major river (Bemarivo).
THREATS
1- Illigal Timber exploitation.
2- Shifting cultivation.
